When TLCA H.S. Basketball Coach Kent Sherrill was inspired to "fire up" his team for the season, he used art to get the job done. Coach wanted and needed the young athletes to have something that inspired the spirit of a protector...and a winner. He requested to take an awesome eagle illustration he liked and turn into a mural in the Boy's Locker Room at The Complex. Although the image was to be quite large, impressive and mind-blowingly cool...it was a perfect challenge for Mrs. Gonzalez and two of her talented and advanced art students, Mercedes Davis and Anahi Contreras. For them, it was a way to share their artistic gifting and to leave a legacy.
In a matter of a few hours after an active day at school, these highly-skilled students and Mrs. Gonzales recreated, in exquisite detail, the image Coach Sherrill had hoped for. Now, and for years to come, players and coaches will enjoy the mural...and as TLCA Eagles always do...they will "Protect the Nest!"
Thank you, Mrs. Gonzales and young Artists, Mercedes and Anahi!
