Counselor's Corner
Meet Leah McClelland |
Hello, my name is Leah McClelland. I am a San Angelo native, and received my bachelor's in education and master's in professional school counseling from Angelo State University. As a member of the Texas Leadership family, co-educator, and school counselor, I am truly grateful to have the opportunity to work with such an outstanding school community. Over the last twelve years, it has been an honor to be part of the pioneering stages of Texas Leadership Public Schools and watch our school mission's become a reality.
As a professional school counselor, my goal is to enhance student’s mental health, increase academic performance, and improve campus climate. I believe it is important to create a positive environment that develops people and instills quality education.
Through direct and indirect school counseling services, I strive to:
- Help all student become leaders by developing the skills to be successful in learning, social emotional competence, building positive peer relationships, and problem solving.
- Help create an inclusive environment that is respectful, welcoming, kind, and open to all.
- Work collaboratively with students, school staff, and families to maintain strong home-school connections and maximize educational success.
- Maintain confidentiality while advocating for and teaching self-care to staff, parents, and students during a crisis.
